Facilitated Development of Strategic Plan within Strategic Management System
This intervention involves a rapid cycle strategic planning process for the Boards and leadership teams of health care organizations. The facilitated and highly interactive approach produces a shared vision with an articulation of the core drivers, high leverage initiatives and tactics necessary to achieve the vision. The strategic planning approach used is an adaptation of a Hoshin Planning cycle. The process includes coaching on translating the strategic planning process into a strategic management system.
A pre-work phase precedes the group interaction and is focused on identifying the critical information necessary to inform the strategic plan. A virtual retreat is held over four working sessions. The final session helps the organization translate the strategic plan into a working strategic management system with systems of accountability and mechanisms to rapidly adjust the strategic plan as the environment evolves.
In addition to the direct contact hours, the process includes up to 16 consultation hours.
The strategic planning process can be customized based on the goals and objectives of the sponsoring organization. It can also be supported face to face instead of virtual; the cost will then be adjusted.
The strategic planning process can also be followed by development of operational plans and cascading plans for alignment within various parts of the organization.
